CEMETERY

Located in Bates Street the Walgett Cemetery dates from the 1870s, the earliest known burial being in 1875. It is divided into portions for Aboriginal, Anglican, Chinese, Presbyterian and other. Hugely important Aboriginal singer, Jimmy Little is buried with his beloved wife. He was a resistant of Walgett after he married the local Walgett woman, Marj Peters.
